DARPA's Operating Room of the Future
The Soldier of the future is likely to have a totally new experience if he or she is injured during conflict. Whisked off the battlefield by an unmanned vehicle, the Soldier’s injuries will be assessed and treated by a surgeon whose skills will be robotically enhanced by rear echelon expertise. Now in the beginning stages of development under a DARPA Defense Sciences Office initiative is a program to provide the most advanced medical treatment possible to all battlefield casualties. The Trauma Pod project addresses some early technological issues.
